Why Amazon’s Kindle is the top eReader: it’s the ecosystem

Amazon now sells more ebooks, through its Kindle Book Store, than it does paperbacks. This year the company expects to sell more than 8 million Kindles, according to some estimates. For just £111, the devices offer an iPod-like combination that’s both affordable and life-changing: suddenly, books are available instantly but never off-puttingly heavy, and thanks to the keyboard you can make endless notes without the irritations of defacing a pristine page.
